Secrets revealed on #IWSG authors’ trials and triumphs.
February 5 question – Has a single photo or work of art ever inspired a story? What was it and did you finish it?
The awesome co-hosts for the The awesome co-hosts for the February 5 posting of the #IWSG are Lee Lowery, Ronel Janse van Vuuren, Jennifer Hawes, Cathrina Constantine, and Tyrean Martinson!
Many lovely pieces of art and music have inspired me. But not enough to dust off the keyboard.
The muse on my shoulder forms a froggy grin. “Sit at the keyboard and begin the first word, just the damn first word,” Croak beckons. “Doesn’t matter if it’s divinely inspired.” He’s cajoling, pleading, begging.
Croak has been waiting. My last significant inspiration that resulted in actual note worthy writing came years ago. The years of disuse, abuse, and/or isolation have nearly turned him to stone with a hunched back.

NEWS ALERT: I wrote this post two weeks ago thinking that it would be exciting to reveal what I’ve been working on ….. Surprise, recently I was directed to not talk about it (non-fiction book about a non-profit organization). It’s all rather mysterious. All my previous training emphasized the need to create hype about a upcoming book, get a fan base established. . So, from this point forward, this post will be frustratingly vague.
to continue my original post …. Croak is not totally aware that creativity has not completely deserted him, er, me. For months I’ve been working with the staff at ********** completing their non-fiction book, “*(*(*(*(*(*(*( .”
Croak hasn’t been privy to this work as his specialty is high octane suspense thrillers – not cold, hard facts. He shivers at the thought. “Ugh, boring!”
“Well, Croak, there is a new deadline for publication of *(*(*(*(*(. Then, my little green sadistic, creator of murder and mayhem, I’m all yours.”

That’s awesome! Congratulations on your mystery project.
